Press Release

Simultaneous with our exhibition celebrating 30 years of representing regional Northwest artists, The Laura Russo Gallery is becoming Russo Lee Gallery. New work by the gallery’s artists will be on view throughout the gallery space, allowing viewers to see works by the unique range of painters, sculptors, fiber and installation artists that we represent. A catalog is being published in conjunction with the exhibition.

The Laura Russo Gallery was founded in 1986 by Laura Russo, with a commitment to featuring the best artists of the region. It has continued to operate in the same space at 805 NW 21st Avenue in Portland, Oregon ever since, with two physical expansions in the years after its opening. Following Laura Russo’s death in 2010, her long time employee Martha Lee purchased the gallery from her estate and has continued to operate it with the same commitment to regional artists. In the years to come, Russo Lee Gallery will maintain its mission to feature regional artists and connect them with the local community through regular exhibitions and artists talks. In addition to continuing to show many of the artists and estates of those who started with the gallery in 1986, the gallery has welcomed successive generations of artists through the years, helping to foster Portland’s vibrant visual arts scene.
