Whitney E. Nye
For the month of May, Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present Range by Whitney Nye. The show title refers to Nye’s travel during the pandemic and functions as a bit of an ode to “on the road” and wide-open spaces. While the name is countrified, these paintings lie in the realm of Modernist abstraction, using layers and pattern to define space and time. Nye is a graduate of the University of Oregon, a former Artist-in-Residence at the Oregon College of Arts and Craft, and was a member of the Regional Arts & Culture Council’s Design Roster from 1998 to 2002. Her work is in the collections of the Oregon Health Sciences University Foundation, Salem Hospital, OR, and the Commerce Bank in Portland, OR.
