Also for the month of March, Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present René Rickabaugh: Recent Work. Rickabaugh continues his visionary exploration of flora and fauna with mind-blowing detail and precision. A master of materials, the artist created several bodies of work in which the ground, the image, and many of the frames are all hand made by him. This exhibition features a series of small bowls and small paintings made of epoxy resin, paper, and watercolor with images of birds in multilayered backgrounds. There are also vibrant reliefs of still life arrangements made with unfired ceramic.
Portland based artist René Rickabaugh has exhibited his work since 1972 in numerous shows, including exhibitions in Portland, Seattle and New York. He received his BFA from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, where he also taught from 1984 to 1987. He has had one-person exhibitions at the Portland Art Museum, the University of Oregon Art Museum in Eugene, and the Allan Stone Gallery in New York. His work is in many private and public collections.
