For the month of May, Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present Recent Work by Marlene Bauer. This exhibition features mixed media works on paper which are intimate in scale and subject matter. Grid-like and subtly illustrative, these works reference both architecture and the natural world, exploring rich and subtle variations in juxtaposed series of images. Universal in their suggestive allusions, they invite close study and reflection.
A Northwest native, Marlene Bauer received her BFA in 1976 from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Since that time, she has exhibited her work throughout the Northwest and also taught art as an associate professor at Marylhurst University through 2015. Her work is in private and public collections along the West coast, including the Portland Art Museum, Oregon Health & Science University, Safeco Corp, and Cities of Seattle and Portland. Public commissions include a columnar mosaic for the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, WA, and selected projects for public libraries in Portland and Troutdale, OR.
