Press Release

For the month of August, Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present Untitled by Ko Kirk Yamahira. Known for unweaving canvas to create works both minimal and complex, Yamahira continues to stretch his conceptual vocabulary. The artist utilizes painting, sculpture, and fiber arts to create works that often defy category. This exhibition features a variety of shaped canvases and multi-panel pieces. Ko Kirk Yamahira has exhibited at the Frye Art Museum and the Bellevue Arts Museum. His work is in the collection of Microsoft and most recently, a commission was created for Facebook. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Tokyo and London, Ko Kirk Yamahira moved to Seattle from New York in 2015. He has exhibited in galleries in the United States and Japan, both individually and as a member of the artist collectives SOIL and Art Beasties.
