To celebrate the abundance of summer, Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present In Bloom, a group show of gallery artists who, often or occasionally, work with the subject of flowers. Flower gardens and arrangements are a mainstay in the history of art, from ancient cultures to postmodern times. In this exhibition, eight gallery artists present different approaches to this subject matter, sometimes as a comment or compliment to their other interests.
Both Sean Cain and Dan Gluibizzi combine the figure with classic arrangements from art history. Chris Russell and Kim Osgood are known for portraying wild flora in stylized conventions, blurring the lines between the wild and the domesticated. This exhibition embraces many mediums, such as the book excavations of James Allen and the mixed media mosaics, paintings, or textiles of Mary Josephson. Sherrie Wolf and René Rickabaugh round out the group, two artists renowned for their mastery of flowers and still life.
