For the month of September, Russo Lee Gallery presents Wend by Gina Wilson. As the show title suggests, this exhibition evokes a sense of meandering. Comprised of several different mediums including works on paper, works on wood panel, and ceramics, the artist continues exploring her minimal approach to abstract and figurative creations. Wilson states, “I choose to make objects. Into [that] arena comes surface, shape, color, otherness from me.” Wilson presents us with shards of conversations that have captured her. Throughout this new body of work, enigmatic poses and forms thoughtfully invite the viewer to ponder one’s own interpretation.
Originally from Chicago, Gina Wilson graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle, Chicago, IL. She received her M.F.A at Portland State University, Portland, Oregon.
