Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present Give and Take by Chris Russell. This exhibition is a visual exploration of light and dark, and interconnected dualities. Russell paints the Northwest landscape and still-life arrangements in his studio examining the myriad of connections he finds investigating relationships in art history, natural science, and spiritualism. This body of work is particularly inspired by the Taoist idea of Yin and Yang, as well as the personal sense of “Wonder” the artist experiences in the wild, which continues to relate to his interest in scientific frontiers that occupy a realm where science and magic seem fluid.

Born in Boulder, Colorado, Chris Russell earned his BFA from California College of the Arts in 2006. After ten years in the Bay Area, Russell spent the summer of 2012 in Piedmont, Italy as Martin Arts artist in residence. His work has been exhibited throughout the California Bay Area, in numerous solo and group shows in Oregon, as well as Denmark, Italy, and Russia. Russell’s work is part of public collections including OHSU in Portland, Oregon, and Melvin Mark Properties.
