Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present Roaming Inner Realms by Mary Josephson, in which the artist continues to explore a combination of materials. Glass and oil paint, oil and embroidery, glass beads and embroidery reveal the unfolding rich textures of inner worlds. The synthesis of materials also struck the artist as a metaphor for a synthesis in life and in the creative process of an artist. The figures in these works have their own inner realm, where the imagination is free to roam. This exhibition also features a series of 10 linocuts illustrating the donkey-human connection in a hand printed book. The donkey symbolizes strength and endurance for the artist, unconnected to politics.
