Gregory Grenon returns to the gallery with Introduction to Character, his newest interpretations of the face and the figure painted on the reverse of glass. While focusing most of his attention on the “Face of Woman,” his long career has led to an exploration of full figures and occasionally other subject matter. Grenon works as a colorist exploring the dynamic and expressive qualities of the people he paints, celebrating the strength of his bold subjects. Painting on found glass such as window frames and pocket watches bestows a vintage sensibility to his work. One of Portland’s most distinctive painters, Grenon’s work is featured in numerous public and private collections including the Seattle Art Museum; the Portland Art Museum; Microsoft Corporation, Seattle; and the Cities of Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington.
