In the exhibition Familiar Voices, Gabe Fernandez explores a crisp and crystalline West Coast lodged in our collective memory. Depictions of grain elevators, Airstream trailers, old vans and airplanes are contrasted against an ever-present blue sky. They seem at once both specific and universal. Old driveways and abandoned gas stations – we’ve been there. They feel like old friends. Fernandez presents them in a clear, unpolluted light.
