In March of 2017, I had the use of a friend's house and studio on the Oregon coast. While I was there I did a series of small seascapes recalling remembered images of the sea that I had seen while walking on the beach or viewing vistas from high vantage points. I was also musing on Louie Bunce's very early coastal paintings and his later prints and paintings of the beach at sunset.
I allowed myself to venture away from my usual abstract painting to do these calm and meditative pieces.
