Russo Lee Gallery is pleased to present Mementos by Chris Russell. This exhibition is a deeply personal body of work that contemplates the passing of time, loss, and remembrance through pairs of landscape and interior paintings. The works evoke the cycles of life, plant growth, decay, weathered rocks, and glacial-carved mountains, as well as the enduring nature of keepsakes passed down through generations. Russell invites reflection on how memories and objects outlive their original context, creating new meanings through the passage of time.
Born in Boulder, Colorado, Chris Russell earned his BFA from California College of the Arts in 2006. After ten years in the Bay Area, Russell spent the summer of 2012 in Piedmont, Italy as Martin Arts artist in residence. His work has been exhibited throughout the California Bay Area, in numerous solo and group shows in Oregon, as well as Denmark, Italy, and Russia. Russell’s work is part of public collections including OHSU in Portland, Oregon, and Melvin Mark Properties.
